Village Trumpets Foundation Uganda

Together We Can Make A Difference

The “Rural Women Looking to the Future” project, initiated by Village Trumpets Foundation, aims to empower and uplift women in rural villages and Batwa communities across South Western Uganda. By addressing the systemic barriers that prevent women from accessing economic and political power, this project seeks to promote gender equality, enhance livelihoods, and foster sustainable development.

Chance To Learn

Village Trumpets Foundation has started an Agro-Ecology Sustainable initiative of rearing goats, where by goats will be proving fertilizer to the plants and plants will be proving pasture to the goats and also goats will be a source of income where when the family experience a challenge that’s needs money goats will be exchanged with cash hence goats, people and environment will be leaving in a harmony sustainable practice for the future generation.

We have started with eight households where in each household one woman is given a goat to start with and in the short time when they start producing, we shall continue distributing to other women in other households for its sustainability for future benefits

Objectives:

1. Economic Empowerment: Provide women with resources, training, and support to engage in income-generating activities beyond subsistence farming. This includes access to land ownership, goat rearing projects, financial literacy programs, and entrepreneurship training.

2. Health and Wellbeing: Improve access to healthcare services and promote reproductive health education to empower women to make informed decisions about family planning and maternal health. Additionally, raise awareness and provide support systems to combat domestic violence and promote gender equality within households.

3. Education and Skill Development: Offer educational opportunities and skill-building initiatives tailored to the needs of rural women, including literacy programs, vocational training, and agricultural techniques to enhance productivity and sustainability.

4. Community Engagement:  Foster community dialogue and collaboration to challenge social norms and promote gender equality. Encourage men’s involvement in household responsibilities and advocate for policies that support women’s rights and empowerment.

5. Environmental Sustainability: Promote sustainable farming practices like goat rearing and natural resource management techniques to ensure food security, preserve ecosystems, and mitigate the effects of climate change on rural communities.

Implementation Strategy:

1. Needs Assessment:  Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the specific needs and challenges faced by rural women in target communities.

2. Partnerships: Collaborate with local NGOs, government agencies, and community leaders to leverage resources and expertise for effective implementation.

3. Capacity Building: Provide training workshops, mentorship programs, and access to microfinance initiatives to build the skills and confidence of women entrepreneurs.

4. Awareness Campaigns: Organize community outreach events, awareness campaigns, and advocacy efforts to promote gender equality, reproductive rights, and women’s empowerment.

Expected Outcomes:

1. Increased economic opportunities and financial independence for rural women.

2. Improved health outcomes and reduced incidences of domestic violence.

3. Enhanced educational attainment and skill development among women and girls.

4. Strengthened social cohesion and community resilience.

5. Sustainable utilization of natural resources and environmental conservation efforts while providing pasture to the animal reared and animal providing fertilizer to the environment.
